Onboard Safety

All persons onboard must be informed of the following:

Stop the engine when the boat is close to the person overboard, use a throw line located at the front of the boat if necessary. Minimize exposure to the cold, head to the nearest harbor. Use the thermal blanket located at the front of the boat. Stay in the boat—it cannot sink. Water cools the body much faster than air.

Man Overboard

Use the sea anchor first. Secure the sea anchor to the front of the boat, the boat will now turn towards the waves and drift less. Contact land, see contacts below.

Fog and Thunderstorms

Only sail in good visibility. Be aware of fog, and always keep track of the compass heading towards land. Head towards land. In case of thunderstorms or dark clouds, be alert for weather changes.

Never sail alone

In case of a sudden illness or falling overboard, it is important to always have at least two people onboard. Use the red emergency stop cord when sailing, and make sure everyone onboard knows how to stop the engine.

Keep things organized

Many unfortunate situations can be avoided if the boat is kept tidy. Contact on land.

Ensure that one or more relatives on land are informed about your departure and arrival, as well as the emergency procedure.
